National regulation of satellite ground stations – an open access publication

NorthBase co-founder Dr.Tech. Tommi Rasila collaborated with professor Arto Ojala on a section in the open access book “Space Business: Emerging Theory and Practice”. The book goes into great detail about many timely topics in new space business and is freely accessible on the internet.

The pages written by Tommi and Arto concentrate on ground station regulation under the topic National Regulation of Satellite Ground Stations: A Global Comparison. This part of the book delves into the intricacies of the development and current status of global and national regulation of satellite ground stations. It is argued that outdated or missing regulations among other things have been hindering progress within the growing and often blooming space business sector, with different countries and regions having their own problems and own solutions. Many representatives and industry veterans from across the globe were interviewed, with the answers then analyzed and summarized.

Satellite ground stations are a critical part of the space ecosystem, but the details of what establishing one requires may not be known to all. We invite you to acquaint yourself with some of the specifics and finer details, whether you’re building, launching or operating satellites, developing software and infrastructure, or otherwise interested in the space business sector.

The book is freely available on Springer in PDF and EPUB formats, while the section about satellite ground station regulations is on pages 195 through 217.
